Aiden Cuteness
The past couple weeks have slowly become a little more enjoyable with Aiden. He has really started to “play” when he’s awake and will do so now on his own, instead of me having to hold him all the time. This morning he actually laughed at me and after a very rough night, it gave me a nice smile. He has also been “talking” a lot more and making adorable sounds. But the best is when he gets going on his hands. Those are by far his favorite toy and activity, sucking on those hands.

May Birthday
Because Owen’s birthday is in July and he’s not in school, they are celebrating it tomorrow. Owen and I made cupcakes this morning for him to bring. He is very excited about bringing cupcakes to his school friends. And even designated cupcakes for him (of course the biggest) and Audrey and Eileen. His main role was to sprinkle the stars on the cupcakes. I had to later spread them out, he would sprinkle them only in one spot. He chose to have blue frosting, so that was super fun to eat. We of course got to enjoy one for snack this morning as well. While we ate them, I asked if they were yummy and he told me “Yes, good job Mommy.”
He has asked about singing happy birthday to Owen and about gifts. Eek! What should I do, he understands more about birthdays than I want. I might just wrap a simple gift up for him for tomorrow.

Owen’s Take
I absolutely love that Owen is so much more conversational. The things that come out of his mouth really make me laugh sometimes, they can also make me scream but not going to go into that.
I am also amazed sometimes how much he really picks up, I really have to watch what I talk about around him now. These are some of Owen’s conversations today:
Omer changing Aiden, Owen watching.
Omer: He’s getting so big.
Owen: He is big. He can play soon.
Getting ready to vacuum.
Owen: You vacuum over there and I will stay in this room.
Me: Okay, I will be done soon.
Owen: The vacuum is scary and Owen goes away.
Aiden: Coo sounds
Owen: What’s that sound?
Me: What is it?
Owen: Aiden making sounds.
Me: That’s right.
Owen: They are happy sounds.

Clothes Comparison
I got to use one of Owen’s summer outfits today because it is so hot. It’s fun seeing them in the same outfit around the same age. I still think they look very similar minus hair color and Owen was much thinner.

Pointer
Don’t leave your newly potted plants under a tree. Three of my flowers were being pushed out of the pot by insane growth of think pumpkin seeds. My guess is some bird food made its way into my pots. I started just to pull the seeds out to find that the roots were everywhere and am now having to re-pot them. This is just some of what I pulled.

Family Birthday
I share the same birthday month as my mom and sister-in-law, so we always get together to celebrate altogether. Everyone came to me to make it easier with the kids and they also brought most the food. So very helpful, too tired to think about making that much food. Not going to go into too much detail, but it was great to see everyone and we all had a wonderful time. I do have to include how much fun Owen had with Nicholas, it was so cute to watch the two cousins play and run around together. When everyone was leaving Nicholas invited Owen to his house next weekend and Owen responded with an ecstatic “I’m coming to your house!” They really were trying to leave together. And after I had put Owen down for bed, I see him standing at the window saying “I want my friends to come back.” How cute!!!

I think the funniest part was Owen and Nicholas sliding down together and then tackling each other. In the first one Owen even falls off and declares “That was fun!” For a kid that barely will slide sometimes and does not deal with rough housing very well, was having a blast.

4 Adults, 2 Kids

That is how many people I left on Saturday while I went to enjoy a part of my birthday celebration.
I had to laugh. I got to get out of the house alone and enjoy a lunch with some friends then pedis and a haircut. It was wonderful and refreshing. And oh so nice to have a meal without the kids. In Omer’s defense his dad and aunt did not stay too long and his mom left after Owen was down for nap. But I still had to laugh when I left.

Birthday Conversation
M: Did you know it’s Mommy’s birthday today?
O: Happy Birthday.
M: Thanks baby.
O: What are you going to get?
M: Not sure, we’ll have to wait and see.
O: What gifts are Mommy AND Owen getting?
M: [laugh] So Owen gets a gift too?
O: Santa is going to bring Mommy and Owen gifts.

Aiden at 2 Months
Had Aiden’s 2 month appointment this morning. Doctor said he looks great and grew a lot in the past month. We talked about the bad sleeping and gas, and sadly not many suggestions other than wait it out a little longer. Hopefully in the next month we’ll figure things out. Just like Owen he has slight torticollis, much less than Owen, but she said to continue doing the stretches. So I need to make sure I keep up with that to prevent the flat head. He also got his first round of shots, as expected he screamed but was okay after I gave him some big cuddles, but he was pretty fussy when he woke up. Poor little guy.
Stats:
Height: 23.5 inches (75%) (2 inch growth)
Weight: 11 lbs 9 oz (50%) (2 lb growth)
Head: 15.5 inches (50%)
