Trick or Treat
Trick or treating went really well and Owen totally got into it. When asked he would say he was dressed as “football” or “Redskin”. He was very good at saying trick or treat and thank you, but he would mix the order up here and there. I think his favorite part was seeing all the decorations, he loves pumpkins, spiders and skeletons. He would say “Go see more pumpkins or skeletons.” And he quickly caught on walking to the next house. After he got his treat, he would say thank you and then started heading off and announce “trick or treat next house”. Good thing he doesn’t really know what candy is because other than one lollipop he didn’t want to eat any of the rest, didn’t even know what they were. He called them shaker box and pencils, etc. It was really funny.

Halloween Fun
After Owen went to bed last night we switched all the candy out of the bag and replaced it with some of the goodies from his basket from Trunk-or-Treating. I just can’t bear to allow him to have that much candy, he’s only ever had M&Ms and lollipops.
Right when he came downstairs he wanted his “pumpkin bag” from last night. He proceeded to dump all its contents out and we played with them all morning until Wee Play class, which was about 2 hours. He called them “Owen’s treats” and “Owen’s toys”. He only asked to eat one lollipop and understood he could not have more and then he enjoyed the animal crackers for snack. Other than that he just played with them.
“Orange frog on orange. White duck on black”

Then he wanted to finally put on the Halloween tattoo’s from the pile. So excited to have two black cats on his cheek and hand. And he now is a fan of saying “Boo!”. Owen is not a fan of sitting and letting me take a picture and when the camera comes out he usually will stop or run away, so it was hard to get pictures of his new tattoos, but I got a couple cute ones.

Work Halloween Party
Omer’s work hosted a Halloween party for employees and their families. It’s usually pretty entertaining and good to see everyone. Owen only napped for 30 minutes yesterday so he was pretty tired but he was very excited to go so we forged on. Once we got there of course he was completely fine and running on empty fumes he gets more hyper – why is that? Glad that he is still not at the age that he is scared and he has always likes people dressed up in costumes (ie Easter Bunny and Santa), so he was not scared of any of the Halloween norm. He very much loved the guy dressed up like a wolf. He gave him high five and howled a lot (he will actually tilt his head up when he howls). He also would go around searching for the wolf when the guy was not wearing the mask. His next favorite was the pirate, he got there late but he was the only one Owen wanted to say bye to. Very happy that Omer’s boss’s wife and children came, good to catch up. And their daughter (Isabella) is 6 months older than Owen, so a perfect playmate or the perfect person to get into trouble with.

Beaver Hat
The beaver hat from last winter still fits and Owen is still a huge fan. It was pretty chilly today but as we have not been able to enjoy the outdoors for several days, we both needed to get out. So I put Owen’s winter coat and beaver hat from last year, which both still fit. All bundled up, Owen pushed his stroller and I walked the dogs. He talked about being a beaver several times while we walked and collected hay. And it was very nice to enjoy the outdoors again. When we got home, Owen insisted on keeping his beaver hat on for a little longer.

Heart Shirt
This morning Owen saw one of my maternity shirts from Old Navy on the floor. The tag has a heart on it and he quickly snatched it up and requested “Owen wear heart shirt.” Okay, sure but it is going to be huge but I made it work. I had to put it inside out and backwards so the heart would be in the front so Owen would be happy. Rolled up the sleeves and Owen was good to go. He was beyond happy and talked about his heart shirt quite a bit. He kept it on until we left for playgroup.
More Cuteness (he likes to take the measuring cups and spoons out of the drawer)

Playing Animals
I had to include this picture to share what Owen was doing: “Seal and walrus riding purple boat. Penguin and stegosaurus riding big elephant. Black panthers, mommy and daddy kissing.”

Funny and Sweet
My boy makes me laugh and smile a lot throughout the day. The things that kids say can be so out of the blue and hilarious. This morning gave two perfect examples.
Funny:
Owen was playing with three of his cars on the black couch, one being the pink tractor from the movie Cars, which is meant to resemble a cow. He was hiding them in the side and then finding them. Then he said “Tractor goes upside down. He’s hiding. Tractor has a penis. A pink penis.” He pointed to the utters on the bottom of the tractor and declared that as the tractor’s penis. I of course cracked up laughing.
Sweet:
Still playing on the couch and talking about the other two cars he was playing with, the yellow car and forklift (as we call it) from Cars.
Owen: Yellow car and forklift are friends.
Me: That’s right, who else are friends?
Owen: Mater and Lighting McQueen are best friends.
Me: Who is Owen’s best friend? (fully expecting for his answer to be one of his little buddies)
Owen: Mommy!
Me: Awe, thank you sweetie. (Big kiss)

Halloween Party
Yes, we have a lot of Halloween celebrations to attend this week. This evening we headed over to Jenn’s house to party with one of our playgroups. Owen was very excited to go to James’ house and as always they played a lot in his room. It was a lot of fun, company was great, food was great and cute to see the kids in costume. As always Owen had no interest in eating dinner while there were friends to play with. So while we were there he only ate a spider cookie, and enjoyed it immensely. Once we got home he had a late dinner, but I am looking very much to enjoying a dinner at home tonight (Tuesday) as we have not had a family dinner at home since Thursday.

Weekend of Visiting
Saturday morning Omer took Owen to visit his parents while I ran errands. It was cold and rainy so they had to play inside. Babaanna took Owen up to her room because it is the most smoke-free room. From what I hear they had a great time.

Then after nap, we headed over to Jason and Michele’s house to watch the Virginia Tech vs. Florida State game. Owen was a little shy at first and then quickly became his normal crazy self. Michele’s sister was also there with her two kids, sadly they were not that interested in playing with Owen. So I missed most of the game as I was playing with Owen. But we lost so I didn’t miss too much.
Owen was excited because he got to finally play with Jason’s Redskins truck. He eyes this every time we are there.
Then on Sunday morning Owen, the pups and I headed down to my parents house while Omer stayed home and accomplished a lot of items on our honey-do list. Owen had been asking to go to Grandma’s house for a couple weeks now so he was super excited and ready to go when I told him. But sadly, after a bad nights sleep and having a very two-year old day (aka brat!), the visit was not the greatest. He was being kind of bratty towards Emma and quite needy of me being around. To top off the visit, Chester and Chloe both rolled in cow poop. Ugh!!! I just had them groomed on Tuesday. So I had to wash both of them there. I actually had to wash Chloe twice because she still smelled, and sadly still smelled on the car ride home. The ride home was not that great either, hit a lot of traffic so took quite a bit longer and with a stinky dog was no fun. So when we got home, I had to give her another bath, she finally smells normal again. Don’t get me wrong, we did have a great time there, just was not our best visit.
The pictures show the good portions of the trip.

Owen Driving the “Red Motorcycle”
He was actually sitting on it but by the time Grandma got the camera he had moved on. He called it a motorcycle because it was parked by an actual motorcycle which he could not get on.

Owen climbed to the back and requested that I drive.

Trunk or Treat
My Mom’s Group held a new event this year, Trunk or Treat. We met at Frying Pan Farm and lined our cars up tailgate style with trunks decorated. Owen enjoyed running around with his friends and then we had a potluck dinner (well Owen ate a couple things and then he was off, as normal). Then the fun began! Owen and Sylvia walked around together to each trunk and gathered their treats. Owen enjoyed his first and favorite treat, M&Ms right after and then in the car ride home he kept asking for his pumpkin basket. I told him he could have one treat from the pumpkin when we got home, he chose a lollipop. The funny thing is he has not asked for any treats from his basket since that night.
My mistake on the costume was I gave him the helmet that he has been asking for like a month ago. He wore it emphatically for a couple days and since likes to put it on here and there. Well of course tonight he had no interest in wearing it, I guess the newness was gone. He enjoyed saying he was a Redskins, but only wore the helmet in the car over.

Making Choices
Omer and I had planned to take Owen to a high school football game tonight. As much as Owen loves football, we thought he would really get a kick out of this. Well we never made it. After nap, while Owen and I were walking the pups I told him several times that once Daddy got home we were going to see a football game. No reaction. Hmmm, maybe he isn’t interested. So once we got home, I started to wonder whether he didn’t want to go. I decided to ask him and let him make the choice. So I asked “Owen, when Daddy gets home would you like to go see a football game or play downstairs.” Owen’s emphatic answer “Play downstairs!”. I asked again a couple minutes later and same answer, so the two year old spoke and we listened. Owen will not be going to see a football game this year, as this was our last opportunity to go, all the other games are too late.
