Trick or Treating
Our friends in the neighborhood Ali, Tyler and Brice came over so the boys could trick or treat together. We were amazed at how well both the boys did with trick or treating. They actually seemed like they enjoyed the whole experience. We went to about 10 houses in about 30 mins, so I feel we accomplished a lot with two 15 mo olds. There are a ton of pictures so I will keep the commentary short. Enjoy!
The Beaver with his huge stick.

Beaver and Lion walking up to the first house.

Beaver digging in the bowl while Lion went inside (he did this at several houses).

Chewing on his the cardboard box, exactly why he is dressed as a beaver.

“Come on, I’m ready for the next house.”

Beaver walking and Lion being carried by Tyler.

Beaver was not as sure about the next house.

Lion loves to be carried on his Dad’s shoulders.

The next house we went to had a cool strobe light. Lion got up close to check it out.

Beaver digging for more treats. Amazed he was not concerned about the boy with no face holding the bag he was digging through.

The boys hopped in the wagon to get a little help to the next houses.

Beaver and Lion love wagon rides.

Trick or treating in the wagon.

The boys also got to see a black kitten at one of the houses, where they enjoyed petting him. All in all our first trick or treating experience was a ton of fun. It was so cute to watch the Beaver and the Lion!

Halloween Playgroup
This afternoon one of the mom’s in my Mom’s Group hosted a Halloween Playgroup. Owen had a great time playing with his friends and many of them didn’t even seem to notice they were wearing costumes.
Owen kept taking the head off so Ali tried and he allowed her to put it on and kept it on. Thanks Mrs Ali!

It was getting hot inside so we moved the playgroup outside.

Miss Belle
Once a month Miss Belle is at Great Falls Library for free. Miss Belle plays her guitar and sings fun songs. I have always wanted to take Owen to see her but never seemed to happen. This morning we finally made it over there. It was a great fun! We were some of the first people there and Owen of course started to run around the room. He also brought in his maraca and would shake it occasionally with the music. Once Miss Belle started her show he continued to run around but would stop in the front to check her out and listen a little. He even danced a little. It is amazing for me to watch these kids that actually stay with their parents, mine just doesn’t. I love watching him explore and be free!
Feeling the beat. (He’s in the middle of a dance.)

Our friend also came and her daughter, Sylvia, borrowed Owen’s costume from last year. Owen kept checking her out and would touch her very gently (like he pets the dogs).

The Leaves are Falling
It finally feels like fall and the leaves have started to change and fall. The hike is now covered in leaves. I usually let Owen walk for about 15-20 mins at the end of the hike. He loves this and unless he’s tired pitches a fit when I put him in the car (we will have to stop that). He also can finally wear his fleece that Buyukhala got him. It is cozy and warm. Owen still picks up sticks and will show them to me and then carry them to the car, but now he has begun inspecting the leaves.
He likes to go up the hills and then rush back down. This is him on the top and he will rush down the little him that is to the left (not in picture).

Puzzle Shapes
Buyukanne bought Owen a new puzzle full of different colored shapes. He really likes playing with it and had figured out the concept of put the piece in the correct spot. He also enjoys climbing up on the sofa where the puzzle sits. This morning he climbed up there and started playing with the puzzle.
Getting the green square in its spot. (Notice the amount of drool on his shirt that he’s only be wearing for 1 hr.)

He also likes to lift the puzzle and dump all the pieces out.

Could it be Molars
You would think after experiencing Owen’s constant teething we would be in-tune to knowing that he is teething again. Yet, honestly I am still not 100% sure he is. He has all his teeth except the 2-year molars, which from what I hear usually go in around 18+ months, but with how quickly Owen has gotten all the others I would not be shocked if he is getting those last molars in. Since last Wed he has not napped well at all, he has been waking a lot more at night, he’s been chewing on everything, the drool that had lessened for a little bit has returned at full force, and he seems to a little fussier than normal. Well all those point to teething, but I can’t see back that far in his mouth and he’s not really willing to let me poke around in there. I am praying that it is his teeth rather than this being his new routine or personality. :/ Maybe soon we will be able to see something back there.

Pumpkin Carving
The rain has finally passed and allowed us to carve our pumpkins. This afternoon we all went out back and started the artistic cutting. I knew Owen would not participate, but after being cooped up he really enjoyed getting to run outside again. At one point he did show some interest and wanted to know what Omer and I were doing.
Owen “giving” a stick to Chloe while we carved.

Finally he came up on the porch to check out what was going on. He wanted the tools, but obviously they were way to sharp.

I did give him his little pumpkin to explore and play with, he was quite intrigued.

He developed his own game of putting the pumpkin on the chair and then taking it off and putting it on the ground. He did this for a good 10 minutes.
Very excited when he put it on the chair.

Time to put it back on the ground.

We were very close to being finished when Owen went over to his wagon and kept asking for a ride. So I first took him for a ride around the yard a couple times and then Omer took a turn.
Owen taking a roller coaster ride in his wagon.

Our beautiful pumpkin creations. (Omer’s on the left, mine on the right, and Owen’s (aka Omer’s) in the center)

Work Halloween Party
Omer’s work had a Halloween party so I got Owen all dressed up and we headed over. This year Owen is a beaver. We thought this was suiting being that he loves to chew on everything and his favorite toy is a stick. At first he seemed a little concerned with some of the other costumes, but quickly he just started to run around and be himself.
Beaver and Fulla Bologna (aka Omer)

We also have been practicing what a beaver does, and Owen has gotten decent at responding to this. He will smack his lips together to make the noise. I have tried to get him to do it with his front teeth but have only been successful a handful of times.
As the party started later in the evening we had to head out as it was already past bedtime. While I was changing him out of his beaver costume, Owen ran off and streaked the party. He also found his suckie, he’s gotten good at finding them in bags.

Mama Chair
Owen will bring me a book and hand it to me, which means sit down and read to me. He will crawl into my lap that I absolutely love. Today we read “Wild Baby Animals” probably 5 times in a row. I kept saying the end and say get another book and he would hand the same one back to me.
Grandma inherited some older classic books from a coworker and gave them to Owen the other week. She said this was one of my favorite books as a kid. It is kind of neat that Owen loves it now too.

One of the other books she gave him “Paddle, said the Duck”, I read 4 times before his nap and Omer read it 3 times before bedtime last night. I love this book, it is so cute to read and apparently Owen agrees. He does this all the time, obsesses about a certain book for a week and then he switches. I wonder what it’ll be next week.

Thank you for Golf Umbrellas
I know we need the rain, but can’t we disperse it over a couple weeks not three days in a row. As Owen loves to be outside, he is not understanding that we can’t run around the yard. He’s done decent but will occasionally stand at the back door and bang on it, this means he wants to go outside. He has not taken that great of naps for the past two days, not sure if the lack of outside time has any correlation on shorter naps. I would also think after running around at a 2 hour playdate this morning that he would have napped longer. Anyway, this afternoon I decided to take all of us on the hike anyways. It was only a very light drizzle when we left. I put him in some lined water proof pants and his rain jacket and we headed out. I of course brought along the handy dandy golf umbrella. Well of course it started raining a bit harder about 10 minutes in, but thanks to the umbrella and the natural umbrellas (trees) we stayed perfectly dry. I have taken him out there before in the rain but not since he’s been in the backpack. It worked great! He of course loved the umbrella and helped hold on to it. The dogs were drenched but we stayed nice and dry.
