Hand-Me-Downs
We got a box full of some more of Avery’s clothes yesterday. It has been great getting Avery’s hand-me-downs; he’s got great taste and lots of clothes to share. Even though Avery and Owen were born in totally different seasons, with Owen being so tall a lot of his clothes have come in very handy. It just so happens that Owen is wearing Avery’s clothes today.
While we were upstairs today, Owen wondered into the guest room where the box was and decided to take a look. He found the gloves, which I thought were so adorable. I decided to give them a try and put them on him. It was cute, he just kept clapping. Thanks again Kelly for the clothes!

Boys Will Be Boys
As today has not been that exciting, just the same ole same ole – hike, playing and hopefully pool later (if it doesn’t storm) – I thought I would post some pictures of Owen and Chester from the past week. Owen really loves to play with his dogs and Chester usually loves to play as well. If he is not in the mood he will go to one of his many hiding places in the house (he’s such a cat). Whenever Owen tries to play with Chloe she just kisses him, she just won’t take a toy from him. Chester still gets some of the biggest laughs out of Owen and I love watching my boys play together.
He likes to “charge” him and Chester will chase him.

Owen likes to hand the dogs their toys. Chester has no problem taking it.

Fetch Mommy
I woke up in the middle of the night on Tuesday and was pretty sick. And with Owen being a little more fussy and needy the past couple days it has been a little tough. But I am feeling better and he had a more normal Owen day. We believe the problem with Owen this week are the last two teeth coming in (we hope).
But after a rough couple days it was nice to visit and see some friends. We went to a playgroup this morning and then went to a potluck lunch playgroup this afternoon. We had a great time at both, and it was nice to get out again.
Owen did develop a new little game, Fetch Mommy. He decided to toss down the tennis ball through the gate at the stairs to the basement, then promptly looked at me to fetch the ball.
Owen thought is was very funny as I brought the ball back up.

He was very thankful and decided to take a stroll with his ball.

My Lunch Date Bit Me
After Owen woke from his morning nap he was once again fussy and needy. Something is obviously going wrong for him, it’s just pin-pointing what, it is very off and on. He usually is happy while we are out so I planned for us to go to Whole Foods, then out to lunch and to the park. This plan was going very well and he seemed so happy with all the people to look at.
It felt a little funny to have my lunch date be my son, but he loves to eat out so I thought I’d treat him. Then the little booger bit me!!!! Right on the shoulder through my shirt and broke some skin. It really hurt. He has been trying to bite here and there for a couple days now but I usually can catch him or he responds to the stern “no”. I know this is a stage most all kids go through and I’ll just have to keep on him about it.
Well after I reprimanded him for his evil doing, we had a very lovely lunch and then went to the park. He took off his shoes and just did not want them back on, so we went barefoot. I guess he is like me and doesn’t like closed shoes.
He had fun swinging, going down the slides and trying to climb back up, and walking through the structures. He actually can walk up the slide while holding my hand – is this something I should not teach.

Happy Birthday Chester
Note: This is another long one. ![]()

We celebrated Chester’s 3rd birthday today. We waited until Omer got home and then all went outside to sing Happy Birthday and to let the pups have some cookie and ice cream, and of course to give Chester his gifts. With so much to do recently, I bought him a big cookie.

The pups really enjoyed their cookie and ice cream.

Owen seemed intrigued in what the pups were doing and watched from the porch.

Afterwards we gave Chester his gift, a stuffed kitty (because I call him my little kitty-cat) and an octopus. Owen took the octopus as if we gave it to him. Note: if you are looking for a gift for Owen go to PetSmart. ![]()

Earlier in the day, Owen was being very fussy and needy. I am not sure why but I was trying to find anything that would occupy him and keep him happy.
We went outside and played in the water table. He enjoyed splashing in the water more than playing with the toys this time.

And as everyone know he loves to read, so I surrounded him in books so that I could get a quick break to clean up from lunch. He still loves to pull out his books and flip through them.

Park Fun and First Hike
We started our morning a little off, Owen didn’t wake until 8:15. He usually wakes between 7:00 – 7:30, but for some reason he decided to sleep in. It was nice to get to sleep in on a weekend none the less and we can’t remember the last time we slept until 8:00, but it did mess up his morning nap. He bounced back from it okay and ended up having a lot of fun with Omer. Being that I took all of Saturday, Owen got to hang out with Omer for most the day and had a lot of fun even with our odd start.
Omer took Owen to meet his mother at Great Falls Grange Park. This is a great park and has lots of fun stuff. Owen showed off his new walking skill to his buyukanne.

He loved walking around the park holding her hand.

They of course swung (one of Owen’s favorite things) and went down the slides and Owen tried to climb back up the slide.

He also rode a little horse which he enjoyed rocking for just a little bit and then wanted off.

Then it was time to go and Owen got some snuggles from buyukanne.

Later in the day, we all went on the hike together. I have been wanting to let Owen walk out there for awhile now but did not want to by myself the first time because I was a little worried about handling Owen and the two dogs. So with Omer there we took the opportunity and Owen seemed to really get a big kick out of it. At first he really wanted to walk holding my hand and then branched off and walked alone. I really thought he would play with the leaves more but he kept focused and continued to walk. Near the end he took a little break to hang out with Chloe and explore the fallen tree. For those that have been out there, Owen did the whole last stretch. I was very impressed and very excited that I might have a little hiker.

Fun with Friends and Relief from the Heat
Omer had something he was doing pretty much all day so Owen and I were flying solo. So was Kim and Caitlyn so we decided to meet in Fair Lakes for some play and lunch. We meet at Tree Top Toys where Owen and Caitlyn had a chance to play a little in the back. They enjoyed chewing on the train pieces and Owen kept trying to walk out of the area. Caitlyn really likes to rock so she got in the chair and they both had some fun chewing on the stuffed toys.
They enjoyed playing with the Curious George toys.

After that we enjoyed a lunch together at Potbellys. It was really nice to catch up with our friends. We both had planned to try to go to the pool together, but with the kid’s naps it just didn’t work out. But this afternoon, Owen and I still made our way to the pool. It was a very nice relief from the heat.
This was the first time we’ve been since he’s been walking, so I thought he’d enjoy walking holding my hand in the baby pool. Well he loved it but kept trying to let go of my hand so he could walk by himself. I allowed him to try and he of course took a face dive into the water. Glad that this didn’t seem to faze him at all. I just picked him up and he kept trying to walk again. For his safety, I plopped back into his float so he could enjoy walking around by himself. He has a really good time talking and playing with the other kids; he is definitely not shy and loves bigger kids. And of course, we had to go into the big pool so I could dunk in and cool off. It was so HOT today.

Naked Playtime
Owen has had some very nasty diaper changes in the past couple days and tonight was no different. It actually leaked out a little so it was late in the day so we decided just to slap on a new diaper rather than getting another outfit dirty. He of course loves to run around naked. Owen has also taken a liking to one of the very torn up dog toys. He loves to carry this penguin around; not sure why.

Also a couple weeks ago I took Owen to a free trial class at Little Gym. He had an absolute blast there and they taught him how to do a forward roll. Ever sense then he likes to bend down and look in between his legs. He even will try to reach and grab something if it is close enough.

Janitor, Delivery Man, or Grill Master….A Random Friday
Today I have some very random pictures, but they all seem to fit together once I looked through. We started the day off doing some house cleaning. Owen is pretty good about letting me do house work while he plays, but today he was very intrigued with the swiffer. He kept walking with me while holding on as well. Glad to see he wants to help.
After I was done, I made the swiffer shorter and let Owen have a go at cleaning.

Then we took Omer lunch today and enjoyed a little family lunch. Owen enjoyed walking outside his office as I carried all the food in.

Owen will give a nice big hug here and there, and recently he has been doing it more often. We of course love this and Owen gave Omer a big hug before leaving today. Omer cherished every squeeze.

As I have said before Owen loves to be outside. When we got back he actually started to bang on the door until I opened it so he could play on the porch. He has been fascinated with the grill the past couple days, and was playing with the utensils today. He likes to make them swing.

Also notice how many outfit changes I have made today!!! He drools through a shirt in a matter of minutes it seems. I think he is on his fourth outfit as of right now. Eek, so much laundry!

A Whole Lot of Playroom Fun
I am so happy that we set up the extra room downstairs as a playroom for Owen. It is a nice change of scenery and toys from upstairs and is completely baby-proof so I don’t have to worry about him getting into something. There are lots of toys to choose from down there but he definitely has his favorites.
He figured out how to move the numbers on the house.

And how to rotate the sun and moon, he loves the noise it makes.

Yesterday was the first time he really figured out how to put things inside of other things. So he did this with his blocks, his toy bins and today he practiced this new skill on the kitchen where he puts the balls into the sink and they come out at the bottom.

He will always get his bat and walk around with it, not sure why but he seems to like to. Here he kind of looks like he is going to hurt someone.

Owen loves to play peek-a-boo and will do so with you through the house door. He will open it and either close it again or crawl through.

One of the cutest things today was he wanted to sit in his rocker, so I put him in it and he immediately started to rock back and forth. He got a big kick out of this. He even climbed out of it by himself without falling.
