Big Truck Day
Herndon’s Big Truck Day was this week, and Owen’s cold is finally gone and there was no rain this morning so we headed over. Owen had a great time but was a little timid getting in and out of some of the trucks, there were some that were really hard, and of course Aiden was sleeping in the carrier, so harder for me to help him. I was able to for every truck except one and a very nice mom stepped in and helped me. We had a great morning driving trucks and exploring them. Luckily we got all the trucks driving before the rain started to pour. And Owen loved walking back to the car in the rain.

Even with all the trucks to drive, Owen’s favorite part was splashing in the row of puddles. He would stop at each puddle and ask “I splash in this puddle?” I of course said sure. I did get a lot of looks for letting my kid splash in the puddles, but come on ladies they are kids only once and splashing in puddles in soooo much fun.

Happy Earth Day
….late. I had planned on planting a tree to celebrate Earth Day, but just couldn’t get my act together to do it on that day. Over the weekend Owen and I went to the nursery to pick out our tree. We decided on a white dogwood. Owen picked the tree out, he was very excited. But it rained most the weekend, so poor Omer went out in the rain on Sunday and planted the tree. I had hoped it would be a family thing but no such luck, too much rain. And I finally got around taking a picture of the new addition to the Earth and our yard.

Body Parts
Owen is curious about anatomy that he does not have. I got out of the shower to find Owen peeking through the door; he loves to find me before his bath.
O: What are those?
M: Boobs
O: Boobs!
M: Yep
O: They feed Aiden
I had to laugh.

Aiden Sounds
Aiden has been making “happy sounds” as Owen calls them more and more. I do love the coos and gurgles. Hard for me to get video of them without chatterbox Owen, but Omer surprised me with some footage.

At Home
Owen really honestly does not mind being at home all day, I don’t either for a little but then I really miss some adult interaction. Well we have been home all week, three days. Doesn’t seem too long but I would really like some conversation that does not revolve around dinosaurs, cars or play-doh.
Owen has a tiny cold and Aiden has been super fussy and feeding a lot (think it’s a growth spurt), so we’ve just been hanging at home. Honestly I’ve had a lot of fun playing with Owen and he has been so very understanding while I have had to feed Aiden and calm him. We have played a lot of play-doh, stickers, cars, dinosaurs and animals. Owen loves imagination games and roll play. So happy that the sun came out after two days of rain, so we finally got to play outside.
This morning while Aiden was napping in the moby wrap, Owen wanted to go in Aiden’s room. He likes to climb in the crib and play with the stuffed animals. Someone should use the crib.
And yes he is still in his pajamas, it was one of those mornings. Owen kept saying, “Put Aiden down here,” pointing to the crib under the mobile. When I finally did (waited because I knew he’s wake up) Owen was excited and wanted back in the crib.

So I put Aiden in his crib, and of course he woke.

Owen Trying to Tickle Aiden’s Eyes

Aiden Making the Block

Random things that I have to include.
1- Like I said Aiden has been overly fussy and harder to get to sleep, so I have been bouncing him a lot while he screams in my ear. I am tired and was frustrated and could not hold it in and began to cry in front of Owen. He loves to talk about feelings and told me “Mommy’s upset. Mommy’s frustrated with Aiden. It’ll be okay Mommy.” Then again this happen later in the evening and Owen told me about the same thing but added “Be happy Mommy.” How can you not.
2- We headed out to play in the sunshine this morning and Owen was not happy that one of his cars was left out and was dirty. So while I picked up poop, I saw him run inside. Didn’t think anything of it because he does this often to go retrieve more cars, but he was taking some time. So I went to go check and heard him yelling for me upstairs. I panicked a little (shocker!) and found him in his bathroom. The door closes by itself so he was trapped and yelling “Mommy come open the door.” When I did he was not bothered at all just proud to tell me “I cleaned the truck off.” Back outside we went.
3- After lunch we were playing water in the sink and Aiden was hanging out in the rocker watching Owen (his favorite activity). I was prepping dinner and Owen kept taking an animal out of the water showing it to Aiden and saying “Look Aiden it is splashing.” So cute. I can’t wait for them to be able to play together.

Aiden Reading
As anyone with more than one kid knows, the second never really gets read to much when they are younger except when reading to the older one. Well this afternoon, Owen was napping and Aiden was playful so Omer decided to read to him. Aiden loved it. He was completely intrigued and listening. Hopefully this means Aiden will be a book lover like Owen.

School Report
Every Friday I really look forward to picking up Owen from school and hearing his report. Always cute what he tells me or what he feels is important to mention. Of course this report is from an almost 3 year old so can’t take it all too serious, who really knows what goes on. I would LOVE to be a fly on the wall one day. I miss my buddy when he is gone, but I do get a lot done.
On Tuesday we were playing play-doh and out of nowhere he told me, “Audrey made me a cookie. ” I of course asked what he was talking about he said matter-o-factly, “From school, Audrey made me a cookie.” He also told me last week how he played restaurant with Katelyn, firefighters with Joe, and doctor with Eileen. He REALLY enjoyed the dress-up play.
This was Owen’s report from today:
1- “Connor pushed Charlie.” Every time he tells me about some child pushing another. We always talk about how that was not nice. So Owen is a tattle tell.
2- “We ate cupcakes. Audrey ate hers. Conner had a blue face.”
3- “Talked about the beach. There is sand and ocean.Jellyfish live in the ocean.”
4- “I sang Old MacDonald.”
5- “Charlie broke a car. The wheels came off. Gave it to Mrs. Donnelly.”
6- “Mommy came back. You always come back.” He tells me this every time with a huge smile. Owen enjoys school but he also really likes being at home with me.
He usually will slowly tell me more throughout the next couple days too.

Aiden Cuteness
The past couple weeks have slowly become a little more enjoyable with Aiden. He has really started to “play” when he’s awake and will do so now on his own, instead of me having to hold him all the time. This morning he actually laughed at me and after a very rough night, it gave me a nice smile. He has also been “talking” a lot more and making adorable sounds. But the best is when he gets going on his hands. Those are by far his favorite toy and activity, sucking on those hands.

May Birthday
Because Owen’s birthday is in July and he’s not in school, they are celebrating it tomorrow. Owen and I made cupcakes this morning for him to bring. He is very excited about bringing cupcakes to his school friends. And even designated cupcakes for him (of course the biggest) and Audrey and Eileen. His main role was to sprinkle the stars on the cupcakes. I had to later spread them out, he would sprinkle them only in one spot. He chose to have blue frosting, so that was super fun to eat. We of course got to enjoy one for snack this morning as well. While we ate them, I asked if they were yummy and he told me “Yes, good job Mommy.”
He has asked about singing happy birthday to Owen and about gifts. Eek! What should I do, he understands more about birthdays than I want. I might just wrap a simple gift up for him for tomorrow.
